DIRECTIONS – From the A174 Whitby to Staithes road
To find the cottage, you turn into Staithes village by a (very good) fish and chip shop from the Saltburn – Whitby coast road. After about 400 m, the road curves right into the public car park, by the Captain Cook pub (great breakfasts) but you need to continue straight on (left) past a sign that suggests no vehicles except for access etc.
This road then goes down a very steep hill into the village and becomes narrow and cobbled. Follow the road to the harbour, but as soon as you pass the Cod and Lobster pub into the more open harbour area, you need to go sharp right up an even more narrow and steep street. This is Church Street.
Cliff Cottage is at the top end of Church Street, about 100 metres from the harbour. At the top, there is a small parking area, with the second space marked for Cliff Cottage.
The cottage is accessed down a couple of steps through the black gate at the side of Felicity Cottage, next to the parking area. Motion-detecting lights should illuminate this area if you arrive after dark.
View up Church Street – Cliff Cottage is at the top.
